So typically this depends on the maturity of the product / marketing function. I try to answer this by asking whey did I hire the MarkOps person. Even if it is a tactical answer, setting them for success is setting the expectations right. So if you hired them to maintain your marketing stack then you might have KPI’s around health of database, bounces, spam, cost reduction, efficiency etc If the role is more matured and directly impacts revenue, you could look at harder metrics like pipeline, pipeline velocity etc

you can look at things like data consistency across platforms as a key KPI, then you can look at marketing team efficiency as another KPI (eg time to launch a new campaign). main goal of markops is to ensure all marketing processes are run smoothly and we have the same version of truth across all platforms

If this is the first marketing ops hire, then for the first 2 quarters, I would look at the follow KPIs 1. Documentation of lead flow process, marketing and sales processes. 2. Building marketing ops engine - assessment of current stack, integrations, automations wherever required from step 1, process optimisations. 3. Reporting and dashboards - single source of truth for marketing data and in sync with other tools. 4. BAUs like database health, data consistency, identifying fixes.

Points in random order: 1. Email list hygiene, management 2. Website - Workflows, drip emails, chatbot workflows 3. Website Audit of lead magnets workflows 4. Crm tools - Contact conversion workflows in crm tools 5. Automations of everything marketing to sales 6. Demand gen - Icps and journeys 7. Supplier management 8. Campaign reporting and campaign ops (setting up accounts, tags, console, pixels, et ) 9. Governance, security, 2fa, data recovery 10. Data analytics
