Yes I've hosted a live event on LinkedIn. You can have people signup to view it, but i don't think you keep it totally private - if someone registers, they can watch it. If you want a private webinar, you can use zoom or goto.

You can have a Linkedin event while keeping it on an external link to Zoom or something similar. You can then use Linkedin as an acquisition channel for getting more registrations to the webinar both organically or by promoting it
