sales people add leads and opportunities to the CRM and Company field is the Company of the leads
a
Hey @Niranjan Bala, not sure if I understand the question correctly - but from a general perspective for any CRM 1. Company is the account name (e.g. s11s.com) 2. Contacts are people working in the company/account name, can be added by marketing/sales (e.g. shaf@s11s.com) 3. Deals can be created by division or geography in the CRM (e.g. s11s-ME or s11s-India) and the company and contacts and be assigned to the deal and vice versa at the contact or account level 4. Ideally all data leads/contacts/accounts (except junk of course) should be kept in CRM itself

Slack being the product - shaf@s11s.com sets up the account and invites sid@s11s.com , does sid@s11s.com go in the CRM?
if rohit@s11s.com sets up a separate account in slack rohit appears in CRM under the company s11s.com and invites both shaf@s11s.com and sid@s11s.com
a
Yes, from a Slack's perspective Sid and Shaf would be contacts in Slack's CRM under the account/company name s11s. But Rohit wouldn't be able to create a separate new account with s11s email since s11s already exists as an organization/company in Slack's CRM - once he is added as a user to the existing account, he'll be another contact under s11s account name. @Niranjan Bala Apologies to @rohit, @Shaf and @Sid 😅 was just trying to give examples
n
I pick Slacks's because you can create multiple "workspaces" - each are individual deals in my train of thought and rohit and shaf would be in CRM (sales team can contact them as they have the authority to approve an upgrade) and Sid would not be in CRM ( as he is just an user 1 of many in the workspaces)
s
Slack is not a CRM. A CRM is for sales and marketing while slack is for communication
CRM is customer facing
s
@Niranjan Bala for Slack - all workspace owners and admins would go into the CRM. Which then, probably, uses a marketing automation tool to send out emails to bring us on a paid plan. Or if it's a big account assign a sales rep to try and convince us to move to a paid version.

@Soham Sarkar slack is a b2b saas product in my example
a
I don't think Slack sells workspaces separately and hence are not separate deals - number of workspaces that an organization/owner/admin user can create would depend on their plan. A deal/sales pipeline is a part of the CRM - normal Slack users wouldn't go in the deal pipeline.

@Niranjan Bala CRM is only to sell or market to other customers. It does not include your own team
n
@Angshuman Majumder Every workspace is separately upgrade'able - only in Enterprise Plans - has unlimited workspaces - i am guessing its fair to say any User who can influence a buying decision would make their way to CRM. would that be fair to say? For that matter even Trello lets you have multiple setups - each of them individually upgrade'able

I’ve done this set up for Flock on Hubspot - and it’s super complex and purely use case based. It’s not an ideal CRM structure because you have usage info for the team, for each individual user and multiple teams under some users (at times). Happy to walk you through what I had done if you’re interested @Niranjan Bala

yes yes 🙂
@Nikhil Mathur thanks for the time. it was a good discussion :)
