it should help to have a .com or .sg domain but if it feels too much of work to get started, dont bother initially. start your campaign and see if the existing output is worth optimizing into. for example, if you're getting 5 leads in a month, you'll like not 20x that number even with a .sg domain but sure you may go from 5 to 10.

@Shubhanjali For longer term, considering .com domain is always good. But for now if you have only .in domain and you want to start asap. Then check if your website or industry have heavy traffic from mobile. If the traffic is mainly coming from mobile devices then Domain doesn’t matter, as it won’t be easily visible to the users

Thanks for your inputs, Aniruddh and Rahul 🙂 Listening to Aniruddh's advice, have decided to go ahead for now and based on the traction decide if we want to invest time and resources in getting a .com domain website.

A follow up question to Aniruddh and Rahul as I always wondered about it. A lot of companies go for .io domain. Considering that at it is also a country code (for Chagos archipelago), are these companies also being negatively affected? Or is there a ranking system within domain names?

@Rahul Nair .Io is a popular TLD these days and because many tech firms and saas based products started using this extension hence it gets the popularity. I will not say it will negatively affect because Google is not giving that importance to TLDs like it was giving earlier. But for global SEO .com always work well that’s what I have seen and local extensions also works well for local or regional specific SEO. It’s not that .io can’t get ranked. It can still, as there are many factors so if the website is doing great in all the main factors then it does gets rank.

@Rahul Nair More than Google, it is the local behaviour which favours a particular domain vs others, hence directly impacting the CTR. For example, as people in tech, we're more likely to click abc.io vs abc.tv, agree? Same with singaporeans. They're used to all their apps being in .sg, hence a higher favourability. Easiest $10 spent to build trust.
