Helloo, Fellow B2B Email Marketers, can you please help me understand the best practices wrt deleting contacts in your contact list for emails. 1. Do you permanently delete hard bounces from your contacts on HubSpot or simply mark them as a Non-Marketing contacts? 2. In case, the contact changes jobs and no longer fits your ICP, should you delete them or mark them as a Non-Marketing contact? 3. If in both cases, we mark them as Non-Marketing contacts, in which cases/situations should be delete contacts from Hubspot… apart from deleting junk/gibberish emails. Will be really helpful if any of you can help me understand the best practices here ☺️

Agree with your approach — reason being we want to have the historical record of their activity including form submissions, email communication, marketing email engagement, website activity etc. And a lot of reports are built on segmenting # of contacts as a metric so deleting would also interfere with those.

We also unsubscribe them from any email subscriptions which are no longer relevant

Thanks Keshav! That's really helpful!

@Charvi Garg - adding to above, have a threshold period (1 or 1.5 year) to remove a few contacts from database in case these are adding up to your monthly plan or billing. You could maintain them offline and upload later when required (or) use another automation tool (free version if possible) to keep these contacts and their history. Have to do a small integration/sync with Hubspot though
