why are you running those ads in the first place? that inherently becomes the metrics you should be tracking.
if you're running those ads to get leads, track total leads, cost per lead and lead quality
if you're running those ads to get more mindshare, track your impression share and impression lost to buget/rank and CPM
if you're running those ads to build your brand, then track your direct traffic, brand keyword volume and social media following

See, overall there is a maturity to everything…
If you’re just starting out, you may also track competitive metrics on distribution like Top of Page, Abs. Top of Page Rate along with Analyzing LP experience, relevance of keywords and CPCs, etc.
When the account matures a little, try to track business level metrics influenced
So just take maturity too in mind…
