a few i see most companies struggling with: • most products they're marketing have weak or muddy positioning, which kinda impacts all marketing activities down the funnel • marketers trying to solve non-marketing problems. for eg seen many companies trying to fix a leaky bucket with a marketing-first approach. your retention and churn is a function of your product, plain and simple. dont solve it by pestering marketing to send those retention emails in the hope of avoiding churn • most dont follow the 80-20 rules. 20% of your activites lead to 80% of your results. so double down on them, instead of spreading yourself too thin on trying multiple experiments. • lack of a systems thinking in your overall tooling/approach. every system should talk to every other system, so basic things like not sending the same email twice or sending non-relevant spammy emails to everyone without segmentation is something that could be avoided. avoid any hacky approaches. use zapier bandaid as little as possible • most marketers trying out the same old approaches like a zombie. spammy link building or skyscraper content stopped working a long time ago but many companies swear by it even today. get on with the times. try new things. i can go on...

For me, ultimately I think everything boils down to 'H_ow do I increase the conversion rate on my product/service page._' If 2 people out of 100 are filling the inquiry form, how do I give them the best experience and take this number to 5. Once reached 5, then how do I make it to 7. Rest all activities align towards this goal (revenue gen) - whether be it your SEO & page rankings, social media, retargeting, landing page copy, creatives, informational blogs posts, case studies & testimonials to win the trust, etc. etc. If we go with an approach that if we do 'this', it has potential to give us X% improvement (with data to back it up) - getting management buy-in gets easy when numbers back you up (potentially run a small PoC as well wherever feasible)
