do you mean hotstar or hotjar? 🤣 these ads are likely personalized using a 3rd party DMP, which knows email or IP = x has shown interest in certain topics and when a hotstar account with the same email/IP logs in then, they see the same ad targeting. it works in some cases, yes but it is still a largely unsolved problem. you stay alone in your house, if you lived with a larger group, you would see all kinds of ads you never showed interest in 😛

Using corporate IPs will get you more random ads 😛

@Aniruddh Jain yes hotstar my bad 😅 Make sense, with more number of users for a single account the ads will get personalized according to the group and not individual. Thanks 🙏
@akbansa haha I don't have the courage to open hotstar, Netflix in my ofc space. So my personalized ads are still personalized for me till now 😂

CTV personalization can also happen at 3 levels. You buy a LG TV- LG has your mobile login. You are using Amazon Fire stick - they have your mobile login. You install Jio app- they have your mobile login too. There are companies who stitch everything using identity graph (more about them here: https://www.richpanel.com/blog/what-is-an-identity-graph)

Thanks @Shubham, identity graph seems helpful in this scenario; great blog by Amit! This topic is becoming more interesting 🧐
