On your own:
1. Do a lot of first party research but also back it up with already available content.
2. First party research should start from your own data/customer usage data - etc. This can be supported with the help of some first party survey. Once you reacha. decent sample size based on your industry -Then it is game of extrapolation.
3. Major content can come from borrowing from relevent reports of yesteryears. It's the distribution that matters since benchmarks and industry reports are so readily available for most industries.
4. Reflect on major changes from the last time period - people are more interested on shifting trends rather than actual data.
Shortcut (But more costly way):
1. Do a co-branded report with Praxis, EY, Google, Forrester or equivalent companies.
2. Will cost you a bomb though ($30K-60K) but will save you most of the work apart from distribution.
