I just got laid off thanks to clueless founders. They hired me to grow the marketing org and then realized it wasn’t making sense from a cost to company to keep me, even though I was “wearing multiple hats” and working under extreme pressure. Basically I was their experiment hire even though they promised to have a plan for me. After working in a chaotic work place, writing 120 blogs a week as a team, 100 Linkedin posts, recording product videos and being asked to work part-time. Anyone hiring a PMM? Looking to switch from my current company, have ~3 years B2B marketing experience

^^ Don't think anybody is hiring for PMMs these days. The only kind of hiring that I see in marketing lately is performance marketers and that's it. My company does upwards of 60 million and there is only one PMM here. They have been hiring for a PMM head for over a year so you can imagine how serious they are. I know so many PMMs with solid pedigree and experience searching in the market. I am saying this to demotivate anyone but just sharing my personal apprehensions. I am in a stable job right now so not actively looking but when I do look outside, it looks so bleak.

Is Product marketing manager role all about content? Recently, I applied for a PMM role through a referral but during the first round what they told me about the role sounded more like a content strategist role but the interviewer was rigid that it's a PMM role.

^ In India yes lol, most PMM revolves around creating decks and writing help articles. But when I spoke to folks in the States their PMMs work more closely w product. I think it comes down to how you want to shape the role; ask your lead/founder that you wanna work more on the product side

Had a very interesting screening interview with an HR from a non-Indian company. Yes, again, the questions were from a template but still open ended and the HR did not have the answers already prepared in her head that made it easy to communicate. To the anon who pointed about Indian companies lagging behind, this is the reason! A good foundation is set by strong and sensible hiring.
