Has anyone got their teeth removed (1 from each side) to make space for the rest of the teeth to be pushed back before applying braces? Was it painful? And how was the entire process?
l
Yes, I got my teeth removed and yes, it was painful because my teeth were healthy and uprooting healthy teeth was painful. Also, they do administer anaesthesia but as the effects of anaesthesia wear off, you start feeling the pain. Additionally, you'd ask if the procedure gave me desired results, the answer is definitely yes. My confidence increased from 30% to 90%. It surely surely affects your smile and you don't have to feel ashamed about crooked teeth or misaligned teeth anymore. You can proudly smile without feeling ashamed at all!!!

You may once consult with other orthodontist to check if it’s possible without teeth removable. I did that, other doctor did without teeth removal and it’s worked for me.

@lemon-dinner-11115 the extraction was painful even after anaesthesia? @elegant-rose-70104 interesting, will check thanks!

For me it was @strong-evening-37474, because when you get a very healthy tooth uprooted, the dentist has to work hard to extract it and THAT makes it painful. But if you're scared of tooth extraction, research on Invisalign company. They offer invisible tooth aligners and as far as I know, it doesn't require tooth extraction! Do run a research!

Hi Harish, I went through the entire process when I was 12 or 13 and mine was a very difficult case according to the doctor. I had gotten four teeth removed and I had to wear braces for around 5-6 years. I had an accident in between where a cricket ball hit my teeth. I am telling you all this to state the severity of my case. Despite all of the above, the entire process was very smooth for me. I don't have any recollection of intolerable pain. The only pain I would feel is for a day or so after my monthly visits to the dentist to tighten my braces. But that too was very bearable. I don't think tooth extraction is that painful either. The region will be anaesthesised and you wouldn't feel anything. I know a few people who have gone through the process and they haven't complained about the pain either. Therefore, I think you should go ahead with the procedure without thinking too much about pain, etc. Just find a good dentist.

So I am wearing braces now and recently in July got 2 teeth removed in span of 15 days. Mine case was same as rosy , teeth were healthy , for the first time I didn't feel pain after anesthesia was given, only pressure was felt . 2nd time was difficult, he gave 2 times injection 1 time anesthesia even after that pain was not going , finally other doctor colleague took over the procedure and got it out . It came out raw . Overall it was good for me . I have few months more left for treatment, hopefully all should go well .

I don't know much about your case but just sharing what I experienced. I consulted multiple doctors(5 to be exact) before getting braces. The first 3 told me that they would have to remove my one tooth from both sides to get my teeth aligned. But later, I got to know about Damon braces from the other two doctors and they said it will not be the case with Damon braces and the process will be much smoother than traditional braces. It's been around 3 months and the treatment is going good. No extraction whatsoever so far. Let's see how it goes. So, I will recommend you to consult multiple good doctors and then come to conclusion. Also, ask them about Damon braces and if they can help. They're a bit costly but much good.
