Has anyone here taken PRP or any other hair treatments? I am considering one and I am looking for some guidance. Would appreciate any help. Thanks

Yes. Transplant and then For 6 months PRP. Anything specific you want to ask?

A dermatologist in my previous job also recommends PRP in initial stages of hair loss to slow it down. Results start showing only after 2-3 sessions and recommends 6 overall. He usually suggests this to premium clients as most budget conscious customers would choose medicines or wait for transplant. Additionally since it requires multiple sessions and each session takes time along with a cool off period after procedure; people donโ€™t pick this.

Also PRP cost varies from clinic to clinic. They are severely overpriced in few places. You should find a balance between reputation-quality and price.

I would say go for hair transplant before it gets too late as PRP is temporary solution and cost varies from clinic to clinic

Ah, I'm taking medicines and the dermatologist said effects take 6 months at least to show. Is hair transplant a permanent solution? What about the remaining hair areas where you aren't balding yet? Would you need transplant again?

Your derma is giving you temporary solutions which has again temporary effects...transplant is done only on the portions where there is no hair...Basically extraction of hair from donor area (back side) and put it into front bald area

My dermatologist gave me meds for a couple of months and suggested 6 sessions of PRP afterward (1 per month). He had mentioned that PRP effects take at least 3 months to show and a couple family members did notice some difference. I sense that the treatment has slowed hair loss a bit but it is difficult to gauge how much. I'll have to do PRP sessions once every few months along with regular application of a scalp spray and special shampoo. From what I have read and what my dermatologist told me, PRP (or any other treatment for male pattern baldness) doesn't work for everyone. You have to experiment and see what works for you. Hair transplant is the only long-term solution. How long it will last depends on donor area's hair quality.
