@swift-pilot-25722 nomadlist is cool 👌 I was one of the earliest lifetime members but I later got banned 😂 I found it to be worth it, but your mileage may vary!

what did u do to get banned?
s
hahaha what did you do man for the ban? The nation wants to know! 😛
c
Yes yes, why was you banned 😋
l
haha - basically i joined NL as a lifetime member very long ago when it was very small etc as the group grew, there were new moderation policies in place I had written a couple useful blog posts around working with Babel (and I’m saying it’s useful because elsewhere in the world it got traction), so I shared it in their
#coders
channel. Similarly, there was once some kind of discount on a coworking space in Phuket and a referral thing where if I share it with you and you take the deal, I get some discount too. I thought it was pretty useful for everyone in the
#phuket
channel - funnily I actually didn’t even want the discount, I never use coworking spaces Unfortunately due to new moderation rules (which i accept btw) the bots just flagged me as self-promoting and banned me.

lol , the perils of automation ;|

No to be clear, I was manually counted as a spammer - not automated. I think just us not agreeing on what can be considered self-promotion My argument was that if you talk about a tutorial you wrote that is clearly beneficial to coders and share it on the coders channel, that shouldn’t necessary be considered spam But that’s just me

Exactly and that's the whole basis of Affiliate business, it's not wrong and works all the time and is done heavily. Some just do it in the wrong manner at the wrong place, which leads to bad naming of affiliate world

I disagree. Nomad list forums are very active with some excellent DN bloggers, when I see someone genuinely contributing to a discussion, I google them and read more from them without them explicitly sharing a link and I think this is how it should be.
l
@billions-pizza-49429 yep, that’s why the new moderation policies were made :)
It gets incredibly tricky for communities once they grow and new members join

+1 @calm-grass-85557 something to think about if this community grows that big 😛
c
Good points made !! I think I might have a solution for that .. check the #announcements channel in a while 🎇
@lively-kitchen-45586 @billions-pizza-49429 ++1 Thanks for sharing your thoughts about community moderation
