1. Buying refurbished laptops from Amazon is a value for money proposition. @loud-glass-33663 bought a IBM Thinkpad for ~20k and it’s working out well for him
2. One way to increase HDD space in Mac is to use flash cards which are generally used in DSLR cameras

You may be able to jam in a new SSD there — but depends if your Macbook supports it. AFAIK the last upgrade-able version was Mid-2012. iFixit is your friend (https://www.ifixit.com/Guide) 🙂
