Ordered a Blendjet for like 3400 and Bangalore customs wants 1600 duty. What's up with the absurd ~50% customs duty? I declined to accept the package. Can I file a chargeback request with my bank? Since I didn't receive the product?

Usually the company sending you the product should refund the money once they received the package. Re: chargeback, I am not sure how it works with banks. How did you pay for it? I have filed chargebacks twice in my life - once with Amex, super easy process, got the money back immediately and once with Amazon Pay CC (via ICICI) - ICICI refused. This was for Nobroker. First talk to Blendjet and if they refuse, you can use that communication to follow up with your bank. Get everything in writing (email)

I emailed blendjet support and they told me they'll refund my money once the receive the product and process it. Have read here on some RI discussions that some people didn't get their money back. Let's see how it goes.

IDFC Credit Card. Checked their website and everything. No way to file a claim 😔

You will have to call customer care. Filing a chargeback is equal to opening a legal proceeding. When I spoke to ICICI bank for the chargeback, they made it sound like the only way I can get the money back is if the card was used fraudulently (which wasn’t). They anyways opened a support request and after 60d closed it in favour of the company. Amex, is substantially easier and more customer friendly. They will create a chargeback request without hesitation and the onus is then on the seller to prove that goods have been delivered, etc. Sorry to hear your bad experience with customs. It usually is the case. I was once charged 120% customs for a movie box set from Amazon UK. (I didn’t accept and Amazon returned 90% of the money immediately and 10% once they received the box — which they did 30 days later. Surprisingly.)

Oh man, I didn’t have to pay Customs when I ordered Blendjet

I'd have accepted upto 25% customs fee but charging a 50% fee for a goddamn blender. Just absurd!
