I struggled a lot on this. Finally ended up with short nap as a solution, sometimes.

Light breakfast. Work marathon. lunch at 5 pm.

Having a 30 mins walk post lunch has worked for me in the past.

@gray-beach-48055 Won’t recommend that to everyone

I have a nice post-lunch power nap

Black coffee right after lunch 🙂

Few things that you could consider: 1. Setting up meetings (or) tasks that rely on other people 2. Using this time to knock off frustrating / administrative tasks 3. Adding more fiber in to your food so that your sugar spike and subsequent crash is controlled 4. Walk it off 5. Sleep it off

In Gujarat, Power Nap of 20-30 Mins is Mandatory in all houses 😉 Even in some cities some business is closed between 2-4 PM.

I've faced this too. Two solutions that work for me: • Setup calls that happen post-lunch, ideally with people you're fond of. • Change your workspace. Could be as simple as working from another room. Both options include a nice strong coffee as well.

Reducing my carb intake (mainly roti and white rice) has really helped me with this.

@loud-artist-61521 @bulky-london-83323 What does your lunch look like?
l
Its a collection of changes I did: • bowl of Raw Veggies or Salad (cucumber, radish, spinach, lettuce etc). You can explore concepts like Korean Banchan (side dishes) • Replacing white / polished rice and wheat to whole grains • Eating smaller portions than before • Trying to have lots of veggies in curries • Adding fruit/savoury snack later afternoon for the coming hunger prang • Walking after meals You can check this insta account who over indexes a lot on reducing sugar spikes https://www.instagram.com/glucosegoddess/. You don’t have to follow it to the tee but you should get a sense of what things work.

Yup converging towards a similar diet. I have cut out roti and white rice completely, I do eat brown rice sometimes. Trying to cut all processed foods (mainly oil), basically going "Whole foods plant based" diet (a good book to read about this would be "How not to die" by Dr Greger) I also do IF/OMAD and 36-72 hour fast atleast once a week (book I've read about this: a complete guide to fasting by Dr jason fung) Been doing this since a while and I almost never feel sluggish after eating now.

@bulky-london-83323 How do you do fasts man? I feel super light headed and can't work even if I miss one meal.
b
The body gets used to it slowly (insulin/leptin/ghrelin sensitivity) I started off with a simple 16-8 IF, slowly moved to 20-4, then started doing OMAD (23-1). Then started adding in ADF (alternate day fasting, don't eat for one day and eat 1.5-2x the next day). Slowly started adding in longer fasts, never set a goal just followed my body when it got used to it. The longest I've done is a 4 day fast (not planned at all) and have never felt so energized ever, did the most amount of deep work during those days. Also need to track your electrolyte consumptions, there's a lot of resources around this on /r/intermittentfasting and /r/fasting wiki if you need to learn more

Ufff, dope! I want accountability partners for this!

Bro whattt. If I skip breakfast I can't function. What's a simple fasting routine I can start of with?

Restrict your eating window to 12 hours, so if you eat breakfast at 9am, eat your dinner before 9pm. Slowly (over weeks and months) keep reducing this window 🙂 Then stop snacking in this window, and only eat during one of 3 meals. When you feel like the window is small enough, skip one of the meals and eat only 2 meals in a window. Cutting down on processed grains / high GI foods as pointed out by Vishnu will already make you less sensitive to hunger pangs

But I don't think you should jump into this without any research or motivation behind it 🙈 I'd say learn more and figure out why you want to attempt to do this first
g
Ox what is your usual diet if you completely avoid roti and rice?
w
A couple of other things that helped me - I usually run 5K before breakfast. That adrenaline can keep you alert the whole day. Also, eat lunch ensuring that you have a little bit of hunger left. This way you are not full (being full induces sleep).
b
@worried-helicopter-28026 Where do you run 5K? And what time?
w
I run around 7 am and in the streets and parks around my house. The days I don’t run are the days when I end up sleepy after lunch…
c
I have noticed that days when I forgot to have lunch were quite productive. Now when I have lunch, it's a very light meal .. sometimes maybe just a fruit and glass of water. This results in early dinner at 6 or 7 which again works well
