I believe this question is answered earlier but confirming again how do we negotiate with foreign companies when we have a notice period in India. Is it we agree the offer and work two jobs until notice period or we need to set the expectations on joining

Being transparent about notice period helps, and if the hiring company is aware of notice periods in India, I think it should be fine. Although it wouldn't hurt asking the recruiter how soon they'd want you to join beforehand, and you reveal about notice period very last in the process (when you're sure to land an offer).

Does that help because most recruiters expect us to join soon

Well it is true that "most" recruiters want us to join early. However, as @flat-morning-91037 said being transparent about the notice period wouldn't hurt. Some companies have a longer onboarding process too so it's good to set the expectations correct from the beginning. For instance, in my case, the time between the day I got my first call for the position and the day I joined the company was ~3 months. This was for India.

Speaking of my own experience, my previous company had 2 months of period and current one has 2 weeks. When I was interviewing, I shared about my notice period only when I was asked about it, and I asked if it was okay to join a week after I leave from previous company (i.e. 2 months + 1 week before joining), and current employer was fine with it. I guess it largely depends on company culture, as well as your hiring manager if they'd wait for you to finish notice period or not. I've seen some companies even offering to "buy" the notice period (even if their own notice period is like 3 months), but I'd advice against doing it. Never burn the bridges no matter how much it sucked to work at your old company. 🙂
