Regarding RBI mandate on Subscriptions:

Signed up for Kindle Unlimited and got this email from ICICI Bank (It is an Amazon-ICICI card). Haven't seen this before on any of my subscriptions which I have renewed in the past couple of days. Wondering if those subscriptions will go through. Anyone getting similar emails from your banks?

Acha. Spotify toh I had to get a prepaid plan. Similarly, Canva has made my post-paid plan to prepaid -- though they have started pushing me to "renew" my plan back to postpaid so it may seem that they have also fixed it at their end. 🤞

So far from the subscriptions I have, only Spotify and Netflix are using mandates like RBI insists, Microsoft extended my 365 sub for next 6 months and Apple wants me to pay everytime manually (most weird of all).

Apple has been working for me totally fine actually 😬 No issues with them after I changed the card once (from Amex -> Visa)

I got this email for my Google Workspace account. But despite the standing instruction, the auto-debit failed when Google tried to bill me. Had to pay it manually. unsure about whether the ICICI is at fault or google is here

I got an SMS too for the standing instructions for Netflix as well as Google Play (I pay for 1password via Play since it doesn't support the Amazon ICICI cc unfortunately)

So it turns out that only Visa and Mastercard are supported. If you are using any other type of cards, for now, you are not technically allowed to do deductions. Got an email from Google saying they are deleting my Amex card from their system.
