Hey Folks, what process do you follow in your team for daily standup calls? Currently, we spend close to an hour daily where everyone shares their work updates and overall progress. We were considering to post our updates on confluence, where everyone can share updates and reach out directly if any doubts/concerns. Any other efficient suggestions? Team size: ~10-12 people

How big is the team? imho, standups should be short ~10 minutes. Any deep diving discussion should be done at the end, where people who are not involved are free to go about their work. On and off we’ve done slack standup, where one of us just posts an at-here in our channel with the comment standup, and everyone replies. There are bots that do this too https://geekbot.com/blog/slack-standup-bot/.

Try Standup and Prosper if you are using Slack

Zoom. 10m daily. 12 member team. Anything that needs further discussion is taken offline. Standups are just strictly for sharing news & status updates.

You could look at a combination of text messages and calls Have everyone send their updates 30 mins before the standup call in the following format Y : <what I did yesterday> T : <what I am doing today> B : <Blockers if any> then the team gets on a short 15 mins - to discuss blockers. Since there are text updates - it is easy to reference and check status offline

We use Geekbot in Slack which automates the process of posting stand-ups by individual team members, here's how it goes; • Greet team member at their designated time of day (mostly in the morning) and ask a few questions (how are they feeling, what did they do apart from work the day before, what did they accomplish on previous day, and what they plan to do today). • Post the summary of response in a dedicated Slack channel which is just for stand-ups. No daily calls (and wasting time) when team can work async. 😉

We have used Range; works async, integrations reduce where effort to pull in info, never need to leave Slack.

I used to use a notion board (linked with relevant slack channels), to get updates from 14 team members (marketing and UX) and biweekly zoom calls.

Thanks everyone for your inputs! will explore the suggested bots for this purpose.
