What productivity apps do folks here use for their personal use ? I have been using Todoist for a very long time and recently have been trying out a bunch of other apps but couldn't find anything fitting yet, I do really like Sunsama but its wayyy too expensive IMO for hat it offers, what apps have others here tried or are using day to day ?

Things 3 is the absolute must for me. Also Alfred. Recently trying out Cron for managing calendars. Was using Roam Research for note taking but the new Notes integration β€” move your mouse to corner and take a note β€” in Monterey has hooked me back to using Notes.

For ToDo list and reminders - Dynalist (paid/free, I am using the free version it's more than enough) Notion for note taking (since I have a student ID, I have access to paid notion for free)

linear.app, crafts app, things, muse app. Haven’t found a perfect fit yet πŸ˜…

out of curiosity, anyone here at all who uses https://sunsama.com/ or would like to use it but can't justify the $20/month 🀯 cost ?
In searching for a cheaper alternative to Sunsama I came across https://friday.app which seems nice but too cluttered for an individual use case and no native apps or dark mode

Hmm, so I’ve used a lot of todo related apps, even paid for a few but eventually completely stopped using them. My current setup involves simply using Notion. I create a doc for my week, add my tasks there and just refer to it whenever. I like the fact that I can add comments + share an individual doc with someone where easily. Been doing it for 6-ish months now and very happy with it. Example πŸ‘‡

I moved from Todoist to TickTick since it also has habit tracking functionality. For documentation and writing, I use Obsidian and Notion.

TickTick is one of the best todo app!

The only productivity "tool" needed is the habit of getting uncomfortable & critical things done and out of the way asap. Apps, reminders, todo lists while useful are ultimately pointless if you're just gonna keep procrastinating.

@magnificent-solstice-42554 okay, that hurt πŸ˜‚
on a serious note, I agree, my main use case right now to look for something new is to try out timeboxing tasks to be more efficient, I am sure I can get some of my tasks doe quicker if constrained within a reasonable timeframe, this is something I can't do well using todoist so just wanted to know what others are using
I am also looking into building a productivity tool similar to Sunsama given I love how efficient and quick its way of scheduling tasks is but at $20/month its way too expensive for a lot of users while still lacking some of the more advanced features that others tools have, this thread was also to see if there are others who are fan of Sunsama's approach but looks like its not that popular here πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

org-mode (on doom emacs) + google calendar + google keep (minimal use, primarily as an inbox)

May sound old school. But I use google calendar to note down things to do in future. And a simple notebook to time block the things to achieve in the current day. Something like this: https://www.calnewport.com/blog/2013/12/21/deep-habits-the-importance-of-planning-every-minute-of-your-work-day/ Apps have never worked for me. πŸ˜•
