Hey, I was looking to buy a good monitor arm with laptop support (As M1 air can only drive a single monitor) and came across this. The Laptop stand is an attachment on the VESA mount. So when upgrading the laptop to support dual monitors, I can use the same stand with an additional monitor. Anyone used the model or have any recommendations?

Technically, you can have 2 with Displaylink drivers and adapter despite Apple saying it wont support more than 1 monitor. Setting that aside, that seems good; also look at Lumi Brateck brand too Some feedback on dual monitor: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/252456656 https://www.reddit.com/r/mac/comments/s32uw9/macbook_air_2020_m1_multiple_external_monitors_1/

Ohh, this is interesting! Let me do some digging.

what monitor are you using with your m1 @glamorous-mouse-696?
g
Dell P2419HC, with TypeC support. But now I think I should've gone with a dell dock separate instead of monitor with inbuilt Type C. I didn't know daisychaning won't work when I bought this.

This should work - a multiple display MST hub or something that supports displayalt mode https://www.amazon.in/USB-HDMI-Multi-Monitor-Adapter-Splitter/dp/B07667D37V
Connect another monitor to the hub and you're good

Yes. I have two separate monitor stands with VESA mount and one of these laptop trays (ordered the tray from Amazon US). You can remove the tray and mount another monitor there.
But, you'll need to ensure that there's enough space for two monitors. I have two separate monitor arms, so that's not an issue for me.
My setup: • Monitor connected to a Rife Monitor Arm • Laptop tray connected to an AmazonBasics Monitor Arm

@witty-air-63049 i wanted to have your review on Rife Gas Spring Desktop Arm
i am researching on buying an arm

It's pretty good. I don't move it often so it's just there to support the monitor. My friend uses the AmazonBasics arm with the same monitor model and even that is good if you don't need to adjust the height too often.
Is there anything specific you want to know about?

@witty-air-63049 i wanted to see how stable it is while keyboard typing

It shakes a little. But that's factor of the desk thickness and not of the arm. My desk's thickness is 2.5 cm.

Ahh I wonder if providing an extra small slab of wood underneath the clamp might help
