Has anyone use Obsidian? How is it ? And How its compare to Notion and Evernote ? I’ve been using Notion and Evernote for 3 years. Mostly I use Notion as tracking system rather than note taking because of its slow search and lack of a good mobile app. And for note taking I use Evernote. The search is really great but from past couple of new versions releases (Maybe 6-7 months) are pretty slow and keep getting conflicts between notes which was not happing earlier. And I did not like the new Evernote UI in mobile. So I was looking for alternative for note taking app with powerful search and sync. And than I came across Obsidian. I watched fews videos for comparison, but all of them compare features and UX which I am not looking for.

I checked that, but I looking for support of an android app as well which Roam does not have.

I use it everyday. Android app + desktop synced via dropbox. If you want native sync you'll have to pay some $4 I think but dropbox does the job for me for free. Search is fast, since all of the files are stored as markdown locally. You have complete ownership of your data. I've used notion and evernote before as well, they're both extremely bloated. Roam research is for the rich kids and youtube influencers. $150/year for a note-taking app is hilarious, when you can do the same thing for free on Obsidian.

Cool thanks. Few questions how fast is the sync between desktop and mobile ? Because I go alot back and forth with notes on multiple devices specially mobile ? And I am assuming we can use this google drive as well since I've the GOne subscription

@able-xylophone-142 sync depends on the sync service you use. if I have both files open on phone and desktop, and I type something on my desktop, it appears on phone within 5-10 seconds. (I use a dropbox forced sync app). I tested on iCloud with mac and iphone and it was almost instantaneous.

I sync it with a private git repo. There is a plug-in which you configure the for often it needs to check to push to the private repo. It is great 👍 I love markdown so it felt like home.

Yup, recently shifted to Obsidian on mac from evernote, mind blowing fast and the ease of use is epic! Sync via iCloud Need to work on moving to phone soon Bonus - check out second brain concepts (tiago forte) and para framework - really helps in oragnizing all notes & folders

Try logseq.com which is even better than obsidian if you prefer block based note taking approach
