Where can I find a strong large desk? • Size 4x2.5 • Can support a monitor arm with a 32 inch monitor (15kgs on the edge / at gromit) • Don't need height adjustment fixed in 72-75 range is fine.

I bought a desk from Deckup on Amazon. Desk is very sturdy and finishing is good as well. You can check out their products. https://www.amazon.in/dp/B079FB4XK9/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_dl_NXAXK1CS53HFF5GMZRCJ?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Using this one from Desqoo. Strong desk. I can stand on this. You can also ask a carpenter to make this if they also do metal work for legs. Make sure they use edge banding(smoother edges) for the top and legs are made of at least mild steel if you're going this way. https://desqoo.com/product/single-top-black/

I am most worried about the monitor arm bending the table top.

@dry-monkey-93718 Any decent top board with thickness >1in should do the job. But if you're not sure, you can ask carpenter to add two beams under the table instead of 1(In the above design). Each beam could be placed closer to the edge leaving enough margin for your arm mount. That'll be the ultimate strength for your table.

If I'm going to get it built, i think I could have the beam exactly where the monitor arm would fit. The arm will be held by the beam itself, then. Top won't matter ā˜ŗļø Thanks a lot @lemon-knife-94497 @orange-action-12733 and @strong-optician-91782

@dry-monkey-93718 I was in a similar situation a while back and ended up getting this from pepperfry . I got it for ~10k and it works really well with 2 monitors stacked on top of each other (probably 30kg loaded on that arm) that with the screw thing. The way to make it work with almost any table is to use a piece of plywood between the screw and the table. I am pretty sure it'll work with any table as long as you use a thick piece of plywood at the bottom. There are a few similar tables on pepperfry in a similar range

How did you manage to get it for 10k 😮 In their photo, the beam looks like it's hugging the front, in your photo I can't see it because of the angle. Can the beam serve as the clamp point? When you say thick piece of plywood, do you use a bigger one, nail it to the board to spread the weight or is it just so that the clamp can tighten all the way?

I think that;s the price point. I got it like a year back and had some offer going on. Should not be more than 15k at the most
Can the beam serve as the clamp point?
It can but it might actually be hard. From what I noticed, what you need a lot of surface area more than something strong. If you have a tiny beam, that might actually be hard to stabalize the whole thing. I would prefer to put a bunch of plywood to have the overall thickness of the plywood+table to be atleast 2inches

the table had like 3 inches which was more than enough

I didn;t use any nails or anything and just clamped it

If you can vizualize it, this is how it looks from the bottom. The beam is from the table and the thing in the center is the clamp(Sorry for the picture not being centerd)

The price on the website is 23k now with 41k MRP. That's a big difference šŸ˜„
this is how it looks from the bottom.
My makeshift solution is something similar with a lot of coasters mostly to meet the minimum distance the clamp needs.

I was worried that the ply might bend/ dethread from the screws near the beam. But you've been using it for over a year with much higher weights. I don't think I need to worry at all šŸ™‚ Thanks a ton!

well that's typical pepperfry. You might find something similar in the market in the 10-15k price range too. I had seen similar ones when I was in the hunt. On that topic, you might look at ikea tables or the stands and tops separately if they deliver to your place. I got one recently and am really satisfied with the quality. As long as the base is sturdy it would work

do keep a check on that once in a while. I would be a little worried with the coasters. Even if 1 of them gets crushed, the whole thing might fall. All the best for your setup

This one is out of stock, but looks very interesting. The gap in the middle can act as the clamp point with the alternate base (used for gromits). https://www.ikea.com/in/en/p/utespelare-gaming-desk-light-grey-50504060/

IKEA's particle boards aren't very durable. Check online for board strength reviews.

I got a lot of complains about the wobbling issues in ikea products. This one in particular is said to be the exception to that rule. Even if it's stable and sturdy, I don't think I can use it. It'll feel more like a 60 cm desk if I clamp the monitor to the gap, that's too close for me.

Hey @dry-monkey-93718 my advice would be to go custom. https://mixstersite.wordpress.com/2021/01/01/remote-setup-part1/
