Is there an app that will smartly help me in cleaning up the Google Photos, so I make more space? Especially removing repeating photos, similar photos.

files by google does a pretty good job

But doesn't it clean only local photos? It does not work on Google Photos, the ones that are already on cloud.

I know this is not the answer you are looking for -- but I have come to the realisation that it is just easier to pay your way out of it 🙃 I have a 100 GB Google One account and. the Rs. 110 / month is not worth the hassle IMO. 🙂

Totally agree with @loud-glass-33663. The google one account storage can also be shared with family too.

I wanted the same thing, but couldn't find an app that did that. Google Photos doesn't provide an API I think. Then tried downloading all my data (to move it elsewhere), and even that was so very clumsy (download manually, with session expiring frequent). Got a paid account eventually 🙂

@icy-animal-10265 Downloading everything from google is actually extremely easy. https://takeout.google.com/settings/takeout

Yes that's what I used. My experience was not good because there was a lot of data in Google Photos, which would take hours to download, and the session would expire time to time.

Although google takeout is easy, Its changes the photos metadata as the photo taken as the date you takeout. That’s a big drawback I found.

@creamy-printer-42807 Thats messed up!!
