Anyone who has experience working in US Timezone from India? I am planning to take a job which requires me to do that and I am okay with it since it is a great opportunity for me. It'd be great if someone can share their experience so that I can figure out problems I might face early on before committing.

How much of an overlap are we talking about? I worked nightshifts (8pm - 5am) for an extended period of time. It was pretty hell. Really wouldn't recommend it. Your entire body cycle goes for a toss, and since you work through nights on weekdays, on weekends you're bound by the same. If you don't have to work through the full night and need only few hours overlap, then East coast makes the best TZ to work with https://time.is/compare/0800_in_New_York/California/Utah/Illinois/Bengaluru_Urban

I've worked odd hours for a client. I was sleeping at 4AM and waking up at 11-12. Pretty much the same opinion - It was a nightmare. I was chugging down energy drink cans to stay awake. It's been months since I stopped that gig and still struggling to get my body clock back to normal. If it's possible try to negotiate a schedule that works for you.

I had the same experience as Satya said, worked night shifts 8pm - 5am for more than a year. Sure, it’ll disturb your health. Currently, I’m working for another US company which is also synchronous in CT zone. But here, they agreed for overlapping until 1:30am in IST. So, basically no worries for me. I will work async for remaining hours. Hence I would recommend to ask them for some async hours which will work for you based on their timezone. Even as low as 2 hours also will make a huge difference. Best of luck.

Thanks a lot guys for sharing this. I'd have never been able to think of this myself πŸ™ I’ll ask for some time adjustments.

Ask if you can follow the sun - you work in your regular daytime, coordinate for a few hours during an overlap and then they work during their daytime as you wind down. There needs to be a high level of coordination and will be a whole lot async but it works amazing if you set it up right.

That simplify's the explanation a lot. Thank you
