Hey #tribe, what are the countries/cities in the world with the best healthcare and quality of living?
b
*Best ' is very subjective, but Scandinavian countries and Finland top the charts in this regards.
l
South Korea has it good too. Though language will be a hindrance.

I’m go out on a limb and say Abu Dhabi, UAE! Been here for 7 months now and loving every single bit of it! Not a fan of Dubai though. Unless I want a night of mindless binge drinking and partying…
m
also depends on what you consider quality of life 🙂

I can't qualify for the world but I have worked in Scandinavia, the Middle East and spent considerable work time in the US, UK; apart from travelling across other places. Scandinavia is by far better than most places for: 1. Health - free comprehensive healthcare, clean air and water, lots of outdoors stuff and pretty spectacular at that 2. Quality of life - great food and nutrition, very competitive pay, robust social security net, free education and child support, progressive and liberal ideals among people, Some downsides: • Wait times for some non-urgent medical procedures to start can be long. eg. 1 month wait for a root canal • Very high taxation - there is no point paying taxes here, unless you want to immigrate in, otherwise it's all sunk • Language - you cannot live there medium to long term, without learning the language; although it is an Anglo-Saxon relative, so easier than most to learn. Personally for me, language, cricket and culture are higher up in the pecking order; so the outskirts of London are higher QoL, with one of the best healthcare systems in the world and a more accommodative tax regime. @broad-camera-13514 what are you planning to do?

Thanks guys
@cold-school-3088 Planning to move somewhere in the next 1-2 years. Evaluating options. Very interesting! Looks like you've moved around quite a bit 🙂
Swedish tax is 57% lol?
b
Its only for income beyond a certain limit, also called locally as 'Rich Man's tax'. For everything else its between 29-33%
People circumvent that using one person company and working as consultants.

@broad-camera-13514 @cold-school-3088 Are there any “easy” routes of freelancing / working for long term from UK or the Scandinavian countries? With an Indian passport the constant hurdle seems to be getting a long term visa. Wonder if there are any hacks for that other than the tedious route of finding a job there. Personally I value my freedom and control over my time too much to go the job route. That's the dilemma 😝
c
Easy? No. There are entrepreneur style visas (for UK) that give you plenty of wiggle room; but YMMV.
g
Thanks. If you can share any links for such visas or specific names, it would be super helpful.
@broad-camera-13514 if you can share any ideas on where you plan to move etc and what visas you are looking at that would be great
b
@gorgeous-spring-56155 Still evaulating, Europe seems to be a good bet
g
@broad-camera-13514 any specific countries and visa options you are considering
