Anyone working in an Indian firm that is planning to bring this into effect?

I personally don't believe anyone can do mental heavy work for 12 hours straight. It's going to burn you out. Will be interesting to see what others have to say.

I agree to that. I am curious to know if any Indian company has been thinking about brining this to life.

Isn't it supposed to be 10 hours a day!? That's much more manageable. 12h means 48h/week with same pay of 40h/week?!

Quoting the labor law:
Working Hours in India: As per the Factories Act 1948, every adult (a person who has completed 18 years of age) cannot work for more than 48 hours in a week and not more than 9 hours in a day. According to Section 51 of the Act, the spread over should not exceed 10-1/2 hours.
Therefore, the working hours are 12 per day to meet this condition, I assume.

At Oracle, the official hours were 40, so I guess most SW companies would use the global standard of 40 and it'll be a 10h work day. Good companies usually don't have any strict enforcement of the 8hrs, wonder what the situation will be with remote work too. 8-6 with Friday off instead of 9-5 seems much more appealing.

I agree. I have been in such firms where strict work timings aren't a concern as long as you get the work done on time.

Appealing - yes, but worth it - no (but that is my opinion). I can't imagine working 12 hrs a day. It's difficult to be productive even in the current scenario. Mostly, a person would be productive for 3-4 hrs a day, maybe 5 at max, so I am unsure how can someone stay productive for 12 hrs without taking a serious hit on their physical and mental health.

8-6 is 10Hr, not 12. 12 is extreme. I think even 3-4hrs is an optimal estimate, especially in large companies. 😂 A good amount of time is spent on non productive work like meetings and all.

Hahaha, yes, I didn't notice that, apologies 😂

We just leave it at - Do good work. We trust people by default and expect them to be productive so we dont have to babysit a grown adult. Its easy to go and say I want you to be in the office / online for 8 hours or whatever but all that is just satiating someone’s ego. At the end of the day - You want the person to work and feel good about it. I’m not super sure a 3 day weekend will solve the problem of motivation!
Also to add: Most of compliance is to average out on the authority bell curve. You’ll never do magic in that band! You’ll have people going “Yessir” all around..
