Hey tribe. I need some help with project management and need someone to walk me through it please. I have coded out large scale distributed products, ideated solutions to optimise solutions but I struggle to start a project of my own. As long as the priority and planning is coming from someone else, I'm able to code - and I'd like to change that. Can someone walk me through the process of taking something that I have in my head only, from writing it down to paper to having a product. I'm ready to pay for the service. Cheers!

Cool. Have you heard of • Kanban? • Epics and Tasks? • MVP and Critical-Path? Very generic simple concepts which if you haven;t encountered yet, you can spend an hour searching and reading online about them. If you are already up to speed on these, Next, can you share what are the steps that you are unclear on or find hard to follow?

So, I know about these and have used them, the problem is I cannot decide what to prioritise and how to plan features myself. For example, I can make a role based access control but I don't know how to plan it as a feature.

the problem is I cannot decide what to prioritise
what helps me is visualising a product/use-case and working backwards from that into the bit and pieces required helps determine what to work on.
I can make a role based access control but I don't know how to plan it as a feature.
For example: • Describe a "role based access control" use-case scenario. • What are the missing bits today (broken-down into small chunks that you could create in one sitting) • ideally, order the above chunks of work such that one can verify something (even if not the entire scenario) after each chunk is considered done. • then over the next few sittings, pick a chunk. do it. 🙂
As an informal example - Here's a diary of someone going from an idea to a concrete implementation over a 24 day period https://zverok.space/blog/2021-12-28-grok-shan-shui.html

Yes I am kind of in the same boat, I have heard of accountability groups where group of people work together to keep everyone accountable. Something like that could do the job.
@chilly-rocket-77832 You're missing the point here buddy. This is a psychological problem not a technology one.

@sticky-manchester-85950 i don't think it is a technology problem. (am curious now, what in my above msgs implied tht? 🤔_)_ To re-iterate, separating the acts of • breaking down stuff into "bite-sized" parts • and actually working on the broken down "bite-sized" parts is very effective. BTW, @quiet-midnight-20665 did you find what you were looking for? More questions? Thoughts?
