Got โ‚น25K from my employer to setup home office. I am looking for an external monitor for macbook and a chair. Can someone recommend me ๐Ÿ‘€

USB C monitor - https://amzn.eu/d/fVA9mQQ โ€ข no need of hub or converters as it is USB-C โ€ข Charges Macbook so no need of charger โ€ข One port serves both the purpose

The perks mentioned by @salmon-vr-20991 are exactly what I was thinking when buying my Dell Monitor with Type C. But after a while, I kinda regret buying the monitor with inbuilt TypeC. If I had bought a Monitor without TypeC + a powered dock, it would've opened up opportunities to upgrade either of these independently and also supported dual monitor, SSD, etc. Now I'm tied down by the capabilities of the monitor. If I buy a new dock or monitor, the extra money paid for integrated Type C is wasted.

Thank you all๐Ÿ˜Š

+1 on what Sidharth said. I fell in to the trap of getting Type C and regretted it big time. Eventually had to move to a dock since most type C monitors currently available donโ€™t seem to support 4k@60hz.

I am getting confused now๐Ÿ˜ Should I go with this or any other LG/Lenovo monitor at ~10k? I am looking for longtime coding and writing without eyestrain. I will use it with both Mac and Windows, so Type C is not a requirement.
g
I'd highly suggest Monitor + Separate Dock. @billowy-spoon-1825, which dock did you buy? Does it support dual monitors?
b
Iโ€™m using the official apple dongle, single HDMI so doesnโ€™t support dual monitors. (On Intel Mac, heard that not all M1 supports dual displays)
s
The monitor I suggested supports daisy chaining. Not sure why you really need a dock. I have never connected more than one monitor so I don't know if it works or not. Before buying this one, I was using BenQ monitor without Type C. I was facing heating issues in the HDMI to Type C cables. Not sure if docks are better in that case.
s
@important-summer-30219 I'm using 75hz IPS monitor and KVM hub to switch between two window and mac I know a friend who is selling dell docks pretty cheap. If you are around delhi, hou can visit him by person or you can order fr him as well.

Diasy chaining doesn't work with M1 air. I tried with my Dell one. It's a known limitation. (Haven't tried with Belkin). Docks are usually better, I've used both Lenovo dock and Dell's type c adapter for years at my previous job. No heating issues. I'm guessing the "Single responsibility principle" applies here too ๐Ÿ˜‚ Let the monitor handle the display and dock handle the connection. I wated to get something like this, which also has inbuilt port for SSD. https://m.banggood.in/Wholesale-Warehouse-BlitzWolf%C2%AE-BW-TH13-18-in-1-USB-C-Docking-Station-with-M_2-SSD-Enclosure-Quadruple-Display-SD-or-TF-Card-Slot-RJ45-Ethernet-Port-100W-Power-Delivery-wp-Hk-1868309.html?rmmds=search&act_poa=POA8446034&cur_warehouse=HK

How is this for long term use @salmon-vr-20991? Did you feel any eyestrain? Also how is the paper mode?
s
I have never felt eye strain. Not even on any other monitor. The paper mode is good. Turns everything into black n white. To be honest, I donโ€™t switch modes often.

Wait. Noob question. I don't understand the dock equation? What exactly is the dock needed for @glamorous-mouse-696?

g
The most common usecase if for multiple monitors, keyboards, mouse, etc. I also use direct ethernet connection to my Dock. The dock also charges my mac. So I just have to plug one TypeC cable in and my Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse, Wired Internet, Charger everything comes up.
f
Oh. Okay. In that sense. I thought the dock is mandatory for driving the monitor properly.
g
Not at all, it's mostly convenience.
