Hi can someone suggest where I can get a split keyboard? Seems like there are not many options.
f
You can ask someone on r/mkindia discord to make one for you. Lily58 build usually costs around 10k to 15k depending on config.

I imported the Ergodox-EZ. They have a nicer looking Moonlander model now.

I have a moonlander and it's very good. Imported it as well. Another good option is uhk but it has a long wait time.

Thanks guys! Valuable info here! All these look pretty expensive compared to the regular ones. Quite an increase in price for splitting a keyboard.
@witty-air-63049 did it also cost you 10-15K?
w
Yes, between 10-15K. I opted to get Elite-C (USB-C) on both the keyboards over Pro Micro (microUSB) which adds up a 2-3K to the overall price. The cost can also vary based on: • The switches that you choose (silent switches cost more) • The keycaps that you choose (some profiles are more expensive than others) • The case that you choose (acrylic/aluminium/etc) • Whether or not you solder your switches or get hot-swap sockets soldered on (attaching hot-swap sockets to a non-hot-swap PCB will cost more) I have an acrylic case with hot-swap sockets and silent red switches.

Do note that Lily58 is a keyboard with limited keys. If some keys are crucial to your workflow, make sure you choose an alternate layout

+ it's column-staggered and that would require some time to get used to it. My typing speed tanked from 90 WPM on a MacBook keyboard to 30 WPM on in Lily58 and it's only around 80 WPM after three months of use. For the missing keys, you will need to get used to using modifier keys to switch to different layers. I find using layers to more convenient than using the regular-sized keyboards. Examples: 1. There's no arrow keys. You can keep switch to another layer where WASD keys become your arrow keys 2. There's no numpad. You can switch to another layer and have some part of your keyboard act as a numpad. (numpad != number row) I also found moving keys quite comfortable. I moved the backspace key from from row-1 to row-3 and now I don't have to stretch my fingers to press the backspace key.

If you choose Ergodox EZ, remember that the actual price will be higher than the listed price because of customs. I think I paid almost 40% extra (not sure though). They'll charge you the customs fee when they deliver.
f
Customs can actually be upto 100%. They've gotten a lot more ruthless with imports recently.
h
Customs duty depends on the HSN/SAC number of the contents of the package. You can also have multiple HSNs in a package that are then listed on the shipping manifest. As long as those HSNs are correct, you won't get charged more than what the law states. If the HSN is incorrect or missing then customs just guesses and it feels arbitrary. You can query HSN duties here.
