NavGurukul is building an alternative to college for the underprivileged. It’s a 1 year residential program where students coming from families with total monthly incomes of less INR 10K a month learn software engineering to get access to aspirational opportunities in life. Alums from NG are already working in leading startups and tech companies with big names like ThoughtWorks & MindTree on board too. Some of the alums have started their journey of entrepreneurship too. As a lot of alums are doing great work and want to lead a life on their terms, founders of NG are working on setting up a software services cooperative which will be co-owned by the alums. Both the founders have run VC funded startups in the past where they’ve built large tech teams from ground up. Now they’re looking out for tech projects which they can take up.
