One of the main reasons is that I want to write interactive blog like this: https://meltingasphalt.com/interactive/going-critical/ in future and having a custom setup makes that easier. With next.js + mdx + react, it is not a lot of effort to build most of mediums features, it took me 3-5 hours to build everything and port the data 🙂 I can do a bunch of custom stuff now like print friendly blogs (that removes title etc and makes it consumable) + interactive stuff etc. I am very aware of "reinventing the wheel" and that is why I won't build my own analytics/newsletter system (was considering 😄) but blog is my own. Another reason was the writing medium.. medium is nice and shiny but need me to have internet + interactions are slow vs opening files and writing to them at will!
These are the major reasons! Medium being pure evil is another one. Yes I had my custom domain on medium.. because when I started it, that option was available for free.. I think that it is gone now! 🙂

+ seo benefits of a minimal thing are amazing
This is closed source right now, but let me share something, this perf/SEO benefit happened even without trying... I will start to optimize this further
See the perf benefit
SEO is less but that is without effort.. most fixes are easy.. will do that in some time 🙂

Another thing is static hosting, this platform exports a static site => infinite scaling no db management! 🙂

Is this just using Chrome's built-in Lighthouse tool ?

Could be, I am not sure, this is from google, and online, I didn't want to install an extension + I don't use chrome, so, this is more convenient for me
