I'm going to go against the grain to say reading is overrated in this decade. If anything, your resolution should be to read less (but learn more).
b
That sounds good but assumes that we have access to learning-rich material. I find that reading a lot (but only what engages you) is a great way to discover things worth learning.
j
@acceptable-flag-71699 agree partially. because lot of sources keep on bombarding info on you.. specific reading may not be needed..

Read less. Meditate and reflect more. But agree with @bitter-forest-99761. You can’t afford to not read if you have read <100 books.
s
Hell yes, Re-read old books that impacted most
but very contextual and depends
l
I would disagree on this point. All really successful people are avid readers. No exceptions, be it any profession. It is fine to read less but read quality books/blogs. Don’t be afraid to leave books in middle if you don’t like and stay away from most of the social media junk (except twitter - which is the only impactful social network if you follow the right folks)

Reading for just consuming is surely overrated (on a productivity scale, I think only reading for consuming when you don't want to build/ship = maybe you have a stable job is very healthy) For shippers, reading is great but needs some balance between creating and consuming! 🙂
l
Agree with both your points. You hit the nail on the head with your second point when you say “balance between creating and consuming”. Sometimes you need to cosume and then create. Sometimes you have to create, face problems, and then consume to overcome those problems.
