Hey everyone, In 4 years of freelancing, I have worked with 66 clients on Upwork. Last night I thought about putting together an ebook of winning proposals. At this point, it will just be a dump of all the proposals I sent, without any explanation of why I wrote what I wrote. Before I invest time in this endeavor, I wanted to quickly check if this would be of any interest to anybody. Any feedback is appreciated. Edit: This is the inspiration for this idea: https://gumroad.com/l/mikekim

Lessons learned, process of writing and coming up with the proposals, results and stats are more valuable. Perhaps you can offer the dump as a companion or add-on, but a succinct summary or write-up is more valuable.

@victorious-energy-56764 - Thank you for your inputs. I know where this is coming from. A few points: • Lessons, process, etc. have been done to death. I have watched/read these from other prolific freelancers who have put up their work online, and I always want to jump to the actual proposals to get a feel of what worked and what didn't for the author. • I have prepared a separate document the process of writing proposals, and I think it is pretty actionable. But I am not ready to share it with the world yet. • I have to weigh the effort and the desired results before I take up too much on my plate. A dump of proposals will obviously be less valuable than my commentary on it, but it will also take less effort. In the end, it boils down to how much anyone is willing to pay for both these products, and if it is worth it for me. • I understand that most freelancers who are starting out can't necessarily afford to buy something that they are doubtful will help them. I sometimes am amused at the prices some of these folks charge. In summary, this effort is to find the most easily doable product with the least amount of effort, but at the same time delivering value.

@hundreds-winter-88791 go for it always - people need help with that. A good idea is to niche down "Proposals for X industry" (X = your industry) I've worked w/ 40+ clients in 4 years via upwork and recently started sharing and teaching this on linkedin, even sold a few copies of my "Winning proposals" - next I'm building a small course, but ALL for the Data industry only, nothing else, niching down

Thank you, @swift-pilot-25722. My work has been in the data space as well, but I work usually with SMB founders where the problem is more business-related than data-related. Think dashboards, process, systems. I intend to tag these proposals with the industry, problem area, tools, etc. so that even within this narrow niche, people can still drill-down. Thankfully, Notion makes doing this a lot easier. I will find you on LinkedIn to see your process.

If I were finding work through Upwork, I'll definitely be interested. Even raw proposals would help someone with a keen eye (as long as they also see the request for proposal). Niching would probably make it easier for people to find your content but my (uninformed) guess is that some of the insights would work across industries.

Yes, for your early customers who actually "buy" from you, niching down works best always IMHO, yes many parts are applicable in every industry which can be used as you scale up

@tall-advantage-5586 - that's what my opinion is too. Anyone with a keen eye can spot the general trends. My work is related to more problem-solving than any it is to any particular tool or tech. So I think the general principles will apply for any industry/problem area.
