@acceptable-flag-71699 worst place to look bro, you are hitting yourself on the foot. check remotive, upwork directly. Why will upwork post a job on a shit Jobs site when they built the most world- class freelancing platform that exists? There are premium talent clouds on upwork, where they hire from directly and have access to 400,000 Freelancers

@swift-pilot-25722 I don't understand. This is their official careers page. I went to https://www.upwork.com/about/careers/ and clicked on "See open positions"

https://www.upwork.com/job/_~01e1613aa78ead3b11/ They post on upwork, inside upwork - the entire platform is there 🙂
That's job listing, for all remote/FL - they will post on upwork only, not on jobs

I get that. My point is that companies are still not ready for their employees to be remote workers. They may be posting on Upwork for contractors. (point taken about these being long-term contractors). & I was pointing to Upwork itself as an example. They don't want their own employees to be remote workers.

@acceptable-flag-71699 You raised some great points about Upwork and the co-relation with remote-working. However, Upwork never marketed themselves as a remote marketplace or remote company. They are just a marketplace where you can find talent or get things done. It is extremely possible to find talent in your own city via Upwork, make them come to your office to get the work done and still pay them via Upwork. Hence, looking them with the lens of “why they are not remote company themselves” would not be accurate.
My point is that companies are still not ready for their employees to be remote workers
Thou this statement is largely true. That being said, this mindset is changing more rapidly than we can feel. More companies are exploring remote working not just to diversify their team but also to build a 24x7 workforce for their businesses. Remote working is also growing because of the huge infrastructure improvements happened in last 5 years. Internet accessibility has improved, sheer amount of co-working spaces, quality of talent. So, it is not just outsourcing mundane work to third world country anymore. Folks are actually working on interesting problems.
