I want to share my Rescue Time app experience and get inputs from the community on the reports that it has given me today. After reviewing the reports, where do I stand in terms of productivity ( in general or any specific comparison) ? How have been your performance logged in Rescue Time or any other productivity tracker app ? It’s been a month today for me using the Rescue Time app after trying QBServe for previous one month. And the stats it has given me are neat and helpful. I found ‘Spotlight of the month’ section very useful for billing/budgeting. One important revelation that has justified with this report is that , in actual I have worked for approx. 20 days at 5 hours a day in a month rate. But the clever mind thinks I worked all day and night 😐. PS: In the image, all listed URLs are individual projects.

Great going 👏 I think @dry-waitress-7852 did share some stats on twitter. I would be ashamed to show mine because I am all over the place right now 🙈:)

Ha ha, I can relate with being all over the place, but Rescue time reports are nice for course correction. I have it on phone+laptop but never open it. I just check out the weekly email report which just let's me know if I need to change/reduce something.

love Rescue time

Have you seen Quincy Larson's rescue time - he shared it online in a company blog? Would that be helpful? Seemed really detailed

@cool-gold-71762 The same article moved me to become conscious of how I’m spending my time. Larson’s medium channel is a goldmine for all type of stuff, it’s really incredible.

Thanks for putting this up. He is awesome no? Btw Samir, there are other people who have put up their rescue time under the Company blogs ( lawyers,Dev's etc) etc.. Lol, and from my end - it's futile to compare to general productivity - bad data :P To hit your usual 8 hours next month- What do you think doesn't work for you in rescue time this month? What is missing so that you hit the mark next month?

on similar lines https://waitbutwhy.com/2016/10/100-blocks-day.html I used this method to manually track my time for an entire week, made me more productive after.

Will check that out. Please share if you have any links handy @cool-gold-71762 . Thanks.

What do you think doesn’t work for you in rescue time this month? What is missing so that you hit the mark next month? One important thing I see missing from my end is me reaching late at my desk in the morning. I need to push more on starting early with a fixed timing. My desk leaving time has been fixed but the morning time varied every day. Another point on the app side, I feel that it would have been better to have a document level tracking as well. Currently, it doesn’t show me what specifically I have worked on during my Photoshop time. I think this feature is not there in the pro version either.

ahh…didn’t get the ‘company blog’ at first. 😕 Thanks @cool-gold-71762 👍🏽
All good reads shared above. While reading through them, I found this interesting app for me to try next. The stats section is really insightful. https://www.sleepcycle.com
Quoting from the article, “Not counting in-person meetings, it seems I work about 55 hours per week. ” That’s a very high number of hours. 😲

I get mine around 30 for office work, when I'm actively working a side project it goes way up, but only for a short while.

@crooked-daybreak-310 thanks for sharing it. I can totally connect to the realization where you think you worked whole day while you actually didn't. As well as times when you think you wasted the time but actually had a productive day. To track my productivity, I use the app that I have been building for past 3+ yrs : https://flow.invidelabs.com It's simpler than RescueTime and more privacy-aware than RT (no screenshot, no url tracking). Let me know if you'd like to get access to it for free.

@crooked-daybreak-310 why not buddy up and do a rescue time swap? Just ask questions and try to brainstorm! This has quite a no of people's interest
c
Hey @cool-gold-71762 I'm not sure what you mean by "do a rescue time swap?"Just ask questions and try to brainstorm!" Haven't tried any such thing :/ Could you please elaborate or share some references?

I mean get 2-3 people in a discussion and pass on uiur rescue time dashboard to the other person. Just get fresh eyes on it and look at it great in a new manner. Talking it out will be more relieving than reading 10-20articles on productivity.
Does this make sense?
I am not on rescue time so cannot volunteer my time as of now. I hope others can?
