Anyone here has experience with smart assistants? Thinking about getting one. Will start small. But I am confused between google home mini and alexa echo dot.
l
I have 3 echos at home including the v1 and now the echo show. They are quite good - especially if you listen to a lot of music or do IOT stuff. However, if you are into music or getting for your folks, I would suggest skip the dot and get a full fledged echo. The speakers are excellent and substantially better and will be worth it. The echo dot I had seemed laggy most of the times and I felt maybe the specs are on the lower end.

Thanks Saurabh. What do you think about the echo input portable that's coming out recently? Also is there a voice recognition range difference between the dot and the full echo? That is, can it respond to commands from a farther distance?
l
@rough-autumn-89795 no. The range is mostly the same in my experience. The newer devices have better micro phones for sure. If you are connecting the echo input portable with a wired speaker then I would consider it. The lag in response rate between a BT speaker and the echo dot made it a frustrating experience. We finally disconnected the speaker and realised that the in built speaker is not the best

I see. Thanks for your review Saurabh. Looks like getting the full echo is the clear best choice. 😊

@swift-pilot-25722 thanks, I read that. Btw, is there a typo here? Winner should be Alexa in calling. <https://i.imgur.com/1Z3VH7Z.png>
