Commercial real estate and WeWork are definitely screwed... Can't say that about the Coworking industry as a whole though
👍 1
Not saying it because I run one.. But because I know how productive I am at coworking spaces vis-a-vis at home

@swift-nail-92883 Yes absolutely, I think the good old niche ones that you or Jeff or James run might actually blow up well if you can bring in corporates for their yearly retreats or for a month or two as they adopt this remote worklife - something you can think on later

On it 😊 Talking to James too

What I've also come across are discussions that commercial real estate is set to boom as large organizations implement social distancing measures. Most organizations have open plan offices where they cram in as many employees as they can. With covid, that's no longer an option.

How I think about it is, that social distancing drives up demand for commercial real estate and working from home drives down the demand. At the end of the day we need to look at the net demand impact from both of these and map that to how the supply of commercial real estate will pan out in the coming years.

Nothing implements social distancing better than WFH. Traditionally, the people most averse to the idea has been middle management (not just in India), since a self-organising, self-motivated workforce makes them redundant. In any case, no company can beat my home office.
But if this pans out, we're in for more crowded coffee shops and co-working spaces for sure. But it is net win, with hopefully less traffic.
