Hi, I’m in the market for getting a pair of headphones/earphones with noise cancellation. Would want to use it for around 7-8 hours daily. Budget is around 20k. Any recommendations?

Given 7-8 hours use, you should go for the best in the market. Extend the budget by 5k and get Bose. https://www.amazon.in/dp/B0756CYWWD/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_4525EbE3CGSKQ

The bose one above and this one https://www.amazon.in/Sony-WH-1000XM3-Wireless-Cancellation-Headphones/dp/B07HZ8JWCL/ Would be your best options for that budget. And If you can wait for a sale, you can get lucky and get either of them for around 20K.

Bose 700 I have 3 specific gripes with it: • If you have more than 2 devices to use it with, switching between them is a pain. • You have to be ultra-careful when you get on a plane. I don't yet fully understand the mechanics, but it seems like you (sometimes?) need an internet connection if you're switching devices — and if you have no internet and want to pair, you're screwed. If you go offline during the pairing process, it will disconnect all the other devices. And if you get used to 700 noise cancel, airplane headphones w noise cancel (or anything else really) don't cut it. • If you wear a mask, spectacles, and Bose 700, it gets hot and uncomfortable. Other than those challenges, it's incredible. The next best thing IMO are Airpods, but they don't hold charge. Just buy two 😉

If you are looking for very good noise cancellations, Bose is the way to go. However, I have always preferred the audio signature of Sennheisers - so after testing out the Bose, Sony’s and Sennheisers at Croma, I bought the PXC 550s a couple of years ago and they are serving me exceptionally well. https://amzn.to/37yfL9D

Why these headphones are so costly? Is not there a new brand who provides a similar quality but at a lower price? I am not used to buying expensive gadgets 😅

@worried-librarian-12856 You can actually get noise cancelling wireless headphones from 3k onwards on Amazon - from brands like boAt or similar. I was actually just looking at headphones for my daughter and saw a lot of these. As to quality, I am not sure if they would be as good — but they should be very close. As to why Bose and Sennheisers are expensive - better components. They will not cut back on the components or the quality of them - so the audio output you are listening to is close to the best you can get for that money.

Makes sense, thanks.

I have a Sennheiser BTNC 450. Its good but the comfort is not the same with the default ear pads. Switching them costs 1500. You can get this in 7500 on sale days. https://www.amazon.in/Sennheiser-Bluetooth-Wireless-Cancellation-Headphone/dp/B07CKT8Z57/ref=sr_1_3?crid=P3SXCTX79DUR&dchild=1&keywords=sennheiser+btnc+4.50&qid=1592226365&sprefix=sennheiser+btn%2Caps%2C290&sr=8-3

Also Sennheisers have 2 years warranty and I have first hand experience in getting a fresh replacement when a pair of earphones stopped working. So you can be rest assured of after sales support.

Looks good and under my budget of 10k.

I have the aforementioned Sony WH 1000 XM3. I love them and have been using it 8-10 hours most days since 9 months. I charge them once every 3 days. Only gripe is switching between devices is a bit clunky.

Thanks for the recommendations. Does anyone also have experience using the Airpods Pro or Sony’s WF-1000XM3 earphones for longer periods of time? Was wondering if it’d be better to invest in ANC earphones as opposed to headphones for more portability and smaller footprint. Concerned whether those would be comfortable for longer hours of usage.

For 7-8 hours a day, I'd stay away from in-ear models and go with over-ear ones. I've used in-ear Shure earphones, but the ears start aching after a few hours of use. I've used the Bose QC 15 for lots of plane travel and they're great. Not so great in an office where you may have intermittent conversation all around you. I've now switched to the Sennheiser PXC550. They feel more premium compared to the Bose and IMHO, their noise cancelling is no longer second to the Bose. If you're buying this for an office environment, you should consider Sony WH-1000XM3 which cancel out conversations too. For noisy surroundings, especially during video calls, you should consider something with noise-cancelling microphones too.

@worried-librarian-12856 You should try them on for comparison. Until recently, nobody came close to them in noise cancelling. As a frequent traveller, I don't leave home without them. It is the difference between a noisy flight that leaves one tired and one where I can get a few hours of rest. The better components mean that they last longer (my QC 15 is now almost 8 years old, still works great after changing the ear pads). Finally, your ears will complain about anything cheap if you wear it the entire day. :-)

Good reasons to invest in these headphones, thanks. Although I usually don't use headphones a lot. But good noise cancelling will surely help during client calls.
