@dazzling-area-12023 All the above depends on the personal use case, if you're developer then always go for the max (as you will always need it). I had a colleague who had 48 gigs of Ram in his desktop and still it was not enough. The same goes with other things (even whether to get a Macbook or not, as there are bunch of heating issues with turbo boost). It's a personal choice mostly and how much money you would like to spend.

Get as much RAM as your budget allows. These machines usually last 5 years or so.

I think getting AppleCare is also a good idea
