https://www.euronews.com/travel/amp/2021/01/29/europe-s-first-digital-nomad-village-is-opening-on-a-tiny-volcanic-island Just found this and was discussing where would be the best place in india to create a small village like this?

I also read about this recently. Obviously, the intentions are right, Europe needs the influx of tourism and the boost that comes along with it. But I think (here in India or elsewhere), instead of focusing on creating specific hubs or villages, city municipalities should focus on creating better infrastructure, better city planning that would boost work from homes (no electricity outages in residential areas, full wifi coverage even in public spaces, promoting and designing such that markets, recreational areas can be reached on foot) and promote public spaces where people to work from, for example I am yet to find a Library (in Mumbai) with wifi or similar space where I can work from without being expected to buy/consume something.

Zoho runs an office in Tenkasi and I am sure they have solved the infrastructure problem there. Either ways, in a few years as Starlink becomes more widely available, you can possibly work out of anywhere in the world with an electricity connection (or Solar setup).

@loud-glass-33663 I agree . I’m also betting on star link. It looks like the only feasible solution that we will get in few years.

@loud-glass-33663 I have read a little about ZOHO's choice of location in the past. My point was allowing gradual improvement in infra in general instead of allocating specific location or hubs as mentioned in the OP article. After all, isn't decentralization a desired side effect of this whole remote movement. Also, a very personal opinion, such "villages" give the appearance of a closed off / semi-closed off locality for specific class of people and in that sense gives off a slightly "cult-ish" vibe. This may not necessarily happen if done correctly, just a possibility. Such communities could generally lead to a very insider-outsider separation. I'll read up on star link, from what you have mentioned, it's impact seems interesting.

True @refined-football-20364 Infra and weather are two most impacting factors, I like the idea of dedicated spaces for remote workers. Ubud and Chiang Mai have done this privately to an extent.

I think remote locations in south goa and very north goa, along with some maharashtra and karnataka borders are great ideas to create something like this @swift-nail-92883 is already working on multiple nomadgao locations similar to this idea do check the links out @swift-nail-92883 , should give you more ideas Btw - @dry-waitress-7852 did you join their porto slack or anything yet? Got an invite from them, would be nice to test it out

Hey @swift-pilot-25722 Thanks man. @dry-waitress-7852 we are on it at NomadGao 😊 Support of the community is important in making it happen šŸ™

@refined-football-20364 check out leaping windows in Versova, cheap hourly rentals (50 INR per hour iirc) for working in their library space with wifi in case you don't want to get food or anything. The owners are also super nice and would probably be willing to discuss a lower price for monthly rentals.
