You cannot buy a domain for personal use. I bought a domain from them and now I have to live with the fear that they can take away the domain or ban my account any day on a whim. Classic Google. I am going to be using namecheap from now on!

@faint-energy-11966 - take a look at 1) Cloudflare and if TLD not available on Cloudflare: 2) porkbun Cloudflare has the cheapest domains in business (no markup) and TLDs which are not available, have good pricing on porkbun. I have been moving away from Namecheap since last year - they are 30 - 40% more expensive than these options. The only major issue with CF is that you need to host DNS with them as well. So if you want to use Route53 (or similar), that is out of the question — use porkbun in that case.

you can always initiate a transfer to another registrar. What was the reason to go ahead with the purchase despite the explicit warning?
m
Wow didn't know this, I have couple of domains from them for personal use, is transfer possible? And where did you see this warning @damp-coat-97256, I haven't seen it before?

Ironically I was transferring a .dev domain from GoDaddy to google and they showed this after I finished the payment

Thanks for the link @modern-table-48211. @damp-coat-97256 oh I see.

@damp-coat-97256 Same here. They displayed the warning after I purchased the domain. Shady and unethical 😕
