Given that no one of very rarely people find a slot in CoWin app - please RT so that everyone in India has a fair chance to get a slot for Vaccination https://twitter.com/jayanth_s_iyer/status/1389996317494022144?s=21

Yeah, I think the requests have been blocked now.

The scheduling API has been restricted for a few days now (I checked). However, the search API is public and you an write a script to poll it to check for slots availability. But you still need to rush and book it. I feel given the vaccine shortage, this system is very flawed for a country like India. Curious to know what a better system design could be to address this issue. https://twitter.com/saurabhj/status/1389840816026230788?s=21 Rushing to book a slot is bad design and a captcha to block scripts is just a lazy way to think about it.

Oh ok - but why even expose the search API - which I feel is wrong - too many people building apps and exposing it - the number of hits will go up …point is any person in India should be able to book a slot using CoWin
Also CoWin is not a product like Bitbucket or GitHub or GitLab wherein APIs are exposed and people build something on top of it

everyone sharing scripts publicly as if they cracked into the backend system of JP Morgan chase using those 🤦‍♂️ without realizing the elderly who deserve the second dose at utmost priority are missing it because of them

This is anexample of how technology can be used as a barrier. Most people with the know how to exploit this are not the ones with the most need. What was needed was a policy led by public health experts, where instead a technology was slapped and is being praised. What of all the people without access to internet?
