I use Jio Fibernet as my primary internet connection. I work from a different room, so I use a repeater configuration to extend the connection. But the speeds seem to be low than the Jio modem. Any leads on how to effectively extend the primary connection as a repeater?

Wireless repeaters drastically drop the connection speed unless it's one of those really expensive mesh setups. The setup I have is using wired repeating with another router/repeater in access point mode. There is next to no speed drop with this setup.

Is the primary router a 5ghz router? Does the repeater support 5ghz mode? There was thread here a while ago and @loud-glass-33663's advise was to just pull a cable from the main router to your laptop. If you cannot do that then the next best alternative is to buy a good quality router and use it as a repeater. But this may turn out to be expensive.

@rhythmic-shoe-58108 @faint-energy-11966 I’ve connected the secondary modem using an Ethernet cable and yes the primary Jio router supports 5 GHz. The secondary modem is placed on the wall, so I cannot connect via a cable. So I connect over wifi

You can consider pulling a cable directly from the primary router to your laptop

@faint-energy-11966 primary router is in the ground floor and I work from the 1st floor. So it’s not possible to pull a cable to the laptop.

For a multi-floor setup you'll probably need expensive mesh routers https://www.amazon.in/dp/B07TV5WQ78/
