Has anyone done this kind of setup for their home office? I am looking for similar dark lighting setup. Most products I see on Amazon and Flipkart are cheap quality and bad reviews. Can't find something similar in local market.
k
Yeelight/Mi light do a really good job.

Most of this can be achieved using simple RGB led strips. There are two kinds - one that allow each LED to be a different color, and one that force all the LEDs in the strip to a single color. The first type allows cool color chasing effects. Buy ones with a remote for easy control. These LED strips can be hidden behind monitors, under desks, etc. Lots of youtube videos sharing these ideas. You can also use spot lights similar to Philips Hue (most local vendors have equivalent lights now) to create hotspots if needed.

@helpful-gigabyte-47939 I have watched the videos. The strips brand they use are usually not available in India. RGB strips available on Amazon and Flipkart have very bad reviews.

I kinda do. It's not that hard. I Have 3 lights β€’ rgb strip light behind my monitor β€’ Wiro smart bulb β€’ Standing smart light < 2.5K
Monitor strip light has the biggest impact

Budget is not an issue for me. @broad-camera-13514 Could you share some pics? DM if not comfortable sharing here.

@millions-ice-83302 Sort by "Avg. Customer Review and pay attention to the ones that have thousands of reviews. Here is an example. Generally, these are much cheaper in the local electrical/electronics markets but those shops will be closed now.

I would agree with @kind-queen-6796 Mi has a good ecosystem which works with homekit, google home and alexa https://www.mi.com/in/home They have a lot more products in china. I used to get them directly from AliExpress but it looks like they are not delivering anymore

@eager-glass-72786 For Ali express only the app is blocked. I read that they still deliver. I don't know for sure. But the 20-40 days delivery time is kind of deal breaker for me. I don't have that kind of patience.

Okay , Im not sure if they still deliver. Some of these lights cost over 2k and Im scared to risk it now. But earlier it was a good experience.

@helpful-gigabyte-47939 Thanks for mentioning Philips Hue. Its bit expensive but kind of what I am looking for.
k
Couldn't help but point out that you went from 'budget not an issue' to 'its bit expensive' 🀯 😜

I got a portable LED with diffuser for 2000 which gives same effect as my local bought 300rs lamp with a cloth put on it. So just trying to get bang for my bucks. πŸ˜… @kind-queen-6796
This is my current setup. That's around 1Lacs+ for audio video gear on table. So budget is definitely not an issue. Not flaunting but sharing. 😁 @kind-queen-6796 https://remoteindian.slack.com/archives/C6M8YKK96/p1621095033452900

@millions-ice-83302 I got Syska smart LED strip for my living room entertainment unit and the colors are pretty good. It’s much better than the cheap strips available on Amazon

@melodic-jordan-81418 Thanks Praneet for the recommendation. Will look into that as well.

What's the impact on eye strain if any? Prolonged use in such lighting doesn't seem like a good idea to me

It's not supposed to be used for a prolong use. In that case buy better quality light which don't put much strain. Most people use knockoff cheap lights which have hard impact. Its okay since they most of the time use it for shooting videos. Then turn it off. About "such lighting"? I am not sure what you meant. Low light nothing in your face darkness rooms? I am pretty much used to low brightness display in dark. Its been years. I had my eye sights checked last year. Nothing yet. πŸ™‚ Though the LED lights that people put into ceiling give me headaches. Can't stand those. @tall-postman-9284
