Anyone tried Dvorak keyboard Layout, Is it any helpful in terms of reducing finger movements and fatigue on your wrist and finger, Thinking of giving it a shot.

I haven’t tried that myself, but know a friend who, after an accident, had trouble typing. Switching to Dvorak actually helped him quite a lot. I think he wrote about it. Let me see if I can find that post.

I use colemak for last 5-6 years. Has been helpful in accuracy, speed and less fatigue.

@wide-twilight-82330 I want to understand a few things if you don't mind: • Are you able to 'mentally' switch between qwerty and colemack easily when switching devices? I imagine not all of the devices you use implement colemack. • What is the speed we're talking here? Have you tried getting fluent in touch typing with qwerty before you decided to learn colemack?

@wide-twilight-82330 have you tried the workman layout? https://workmanlayout.org/

I've been using Colemak-DH for a year now. https://colemakmods.github.io/mod-dh/ @kind-queen-6796, switching between devices is not that difficult once trained. It'll only matter if you have to work for a long time with someone else's machine. In mobile, it doesn't matter at all as I'm using QWERTY without any issue. More than speed, I found that the finger movements are much better than qwerty. People can reach 100wpm+ speed with just two fingers, so I didn't give speed much weightage. Also, when programming, I've never found speed to be a bottleneck. 😬

@kind-queen-6796 yes I can seamlessly switch after making 1-3 mistakes but my accuracy is poorer in qwerty. I use colemak wherever possible - so far the only devices I use that doesn’t support is iPhone and iPad My speed in qwerty was around 85 wpm but accuracy of say 90% With colemak speed is more or less same or higher - have gone up to 105 but accuracy is like 98% and much less fatigue due to less finger travel @dry-monkey-93718 no

Hmm thanks guys. I might try it for fun. I touch type on qwerty upto 100-110wpm on a good day, haven't experienced any issues of fatigue.
