Hey Folks 👋, I am looking for recommendations on mobile phones. So, far I have selected the following phones: Samsung M31, Realme Narzo, and Realme X2. I had used a Samsung phone a few years back, and it worked well (except after some years its battery went crazy). I have not used Realme phones yet, so unsure about their performance. I did looked into some Redmi phones too, but I want to try something new, since I have had used quite a few Redmi phones.
Budget is between (15-20) K. Please suggest some options. Thanks in advance 🙂

Stay away from those chinese phones. They are a privacy nightmare. Xiaomi was literally caught taking screenshots of user's browser interactions and uploading it to their servers. Get the new Samsung M42 5G.
If you are willing to spend a bit more, you can get the Pixel 4A in upcoming flipkart sale for about 27k https://dl.flipkart.com/dl/google-pixel-4a-just-black-128-gb/p/itm023b9677aa45d

have bad experience with Samsung midrange phones (M31 specifically) their touch is bit unresponsive and performance wise its laggy so avoid it realme user from last 3 years , good phones with performance , avoid their dimensity chipset (have performance issues while low battery ) otherwise good performance overall in this price range

M 31 works well for parents or minimal usage bought for mom works without any issues.
Pixel cameras are good but processors bad. If looking for only photos pixel phones are great

What about Samsung A31? Has anyone used it before?
f
Avoid mediatek processors

I used the Samsung m20 for two years, never faced any issues, but I am a light user, only had outlook, slack and WhatsApp downloaded from playstore, rest everything on PC. I'd suggest buy the new One plus nord in this budget..
f
Yeah. Nord series is great. Didn't know the new one was close to 20K. Go for it.

they launched it today only -

I or my family have used Samsung and Realme/Mi/Redmi like brands. The phones don't last that long and software support is also bad. If you can stretch the budget a bit, you can have a look at OnePlus Nord series. I have been using an OnePlus device for 3 years and no complaints till now.

Okay, thank you for your input guys 🙂 @damp-memory-53739 Thanks for sharing this (OnePlus Nord CE 5G). It looks good.

Isn't One plus also a Chinese company? Anyone has insight if One plus devices pull the same stunts like the Xiaomi ones? I have not heard of the screenshots anecdote, but I have seen reviews on reddit mentioning that Xiaomi phones constantly relay a lot of info to their own servers (someone did Wireshark analysis on reddit), does OnePlus do the same stuff? I stuck with Nokia due to these reasons (OnePlus was beyond my budget at that time)

@refined-football-20364 Yes. OnePlus is chinese but they focused on positioning themselves as a hippie western brand since their early days. They did try to pull off some stupid stunts recently, such as preloading Facebook but it made the fanbase furios so they pulled back.

@refined-football-20364 I have used Xiaomi and OnePlus. I felt they are completely different ends of the spectrum. I bought OnePlus for their near stock Android experience (which has deviated a bit now) and software updates for older phones as well. My almost 3 year old OnePlus 6T gets security patches till date and they are planning to push Android 11 in 2 months. About data security, it is always a concern with any phone. Probably Apple is the only one that can be trusted a bit, but with a pinch of salt.
