Hey, anyone in cycling here? I'm looking for an off-roader which I can probably take up-to mountains and downhill trails so something robust. MTB seems to be like a super broad and loosely defined category. Would love to connect with someone who knows a bit more. Thanks 🙂

I am looking for tandom cycles. Reliable ones too. I have heard that we get good ones from abroad. There are couple of Bengaluru based setups who manufacture tandom cycles. But I do not know the quality they provide. I used to be riding tandom cycles as part of an NGO out here in Pune

I cycle but am in the hybrid cycle group. Don’t have an MTB. I use a Trek Bike (Dual Sport 2) but have heard good things about their Marlin line of bikes which are good for folks starting out on trails / mountain biking.

You can try entry level Merida models. They are good and last a long time. Last time I was looking a few years ago they started at around 30 k

I use a Trek Dual Sport 2 as well. Though it is not recommended for heavy off-road. If you wanna go up and down on paved roads in the hills, I would recommend go for a road/hybrid bike as they are lighter. Go for mountain bike if you literally wanna go into the woods, though I am not sure if many such places exist in India.

@polite-waiter-56273 I don't want to ride on paved road (will be carrying the bike on car instead). I need the bike for off-roading only.

I’m that case I agree Marlin would be a good pick.

Yeah, seems like marlin is the only solid contender. they don't deliver, so I'll have to pick it up from a location 😞

Trek bikes have low availability in general, I had to wait 2 months for mine
