Planning to buy a vacuum cleaner for my mother. Preferably cord-free. Also fine with a corded model as long as its not too heavy. Dyson looks too expensive and not sure if they have proper service in India. Any recommendations?

Buy the Mi robot vacuum. Been using once since about 3 weeks it’s total paisa vasool

@wide-twilight-82330 Actually I am looking for a vaccum cleaner for wall corners and window sils. Will be buying the Mi one during diwali sale but at the moment need a traditional vacuum cleaner
w
It will become redundant. Instead a simple broom, drop the dust on floor & have the robot clean it up, easier.

Dyson is amazing and has terrific service. Go for it. We have been using the V10 for a couple of years now and just got the V8 for parents. They are life changers. Especially if you have kids. The V8 is good value for money.

@loud-glass-33663 they've service centres in India? The reviews on amazon state that people never received a response from Dyson's customer care
l
@faint-energy-11966 They don’t. They just send you a replacement. Though we have never had any issues with it so far. We have had only one interaction with their customer service: The filter is washable and we need to wash it monthly and it takes about 24h to dry - and you cant use the vacuum machine while it is wet. So a year and a half in, we said that we were having trouble with the filter (we thought it had dried but the machine was still giving an error) — so they shipped us a new filter for free immediately. So we can use one filter while the other is drying. If you think Amazon has good CS, Dyson is amazing. The entire experience is brilliant. We are in Pune - so when we got the V10 a few years ago, a guy came from Bombay to demo it (this was pre-Covid), and the way they demo it is itself a 5-star experience. It is expensive - yes. But completely justified. I bought the V8 for my parents in lockdown recently and the demo happened online and my dad was super-impressed. So if you can afford it, I will definitely recommend it. We use the machine multiple times a day for 5-10m each use.

How's a dyson vacuum different from a normal one? @loud-glass-33663
l
@broad-camera-13514 By normal one if you mean the one you first pull out from a storage unit, then unwind the cable and find a 15Amp socket to plug it in, then lug it around while it “tries” to clean, and then figure out how to empty the bin or find replaceable paper bags … 😬 A Dyson is cordless. It is always charging hanging on the wall. You just pluck it out and clean. That has been the biggest difference. And then you pluck it back again. (No inertia in using the machine). The other thing that I have seen with it which I haven’t seen with my earlier Euroclean and others is that the primary attachments are motorised, brushes rotate, etc. and it ends up cleaning much better. It is substantially faster than getting a broom and a dustpan. If you have young kids who are throwing food around and making a mess, it is a blessing. (Ok. I will stop gushing). While you can clean your entire house with it, it will be tedious on an everyday basis. I would recommend a Roomba in that case (or the broom and mop). But it is great for a 10-15m job like vacuuming your carpet or cleaning the kitchen after the day, etc. Mine (and my parent’s) normal vacuum machine is gathering dust in some storage unit for years. Just too tedious to use it regularly.

Oh I meant Dyson vs any other wireless vacuum.
Been considering getting a roomba too

Haven’t tried others. So can’t comment on that.

@broad-camera-13514 Check out reviews on YouTube. It seems dyson has the most powerful motor and no other brand has been able to match their performance.
c
@broad-camera-13514 Roomba is the worst of the robo vaccums. You should look at roborock S5max/S7, or a deebot T8/T8 plus. Or even a mi vacuum will be better than roomba.

This channel was great in helping me make a decision on the Roomba. https://youtube.com/c/VacuumWars

Another +1 for the Dyson. I have a v10 cyclone for ~4 years now. Never had any issues, simply empty the bin, wash the filter when it prompts you to and keep it charged.

Awesome thanks

Are handheld vacuum cleaners good enough to clean keyboard dust?
a
I have a Dyson V7. Works really well.

I have seen many of the vacuum cleaners do not mop the floor. What do you think about a wet and dry vacuum cleaner?
