Has anyone gone through the pesto.tech program? How are the reviews? One of my friends is transitioning to dev career and although he has done good amount of self study, he is looking for a directed program to provide him mentorship and career opportunities. Pesto.tech promises to help people get interviews at remote companies, which is icing on the cake. But what are the red flags/any personal stories?

A little different from Pest Tech but might be useful: https://www.crio.do/

Not a personal story. Just make sure that your friend is aware that the program 'helps' candidates get a job and the candidate is legally bound to pay a part of their salary to pesto for a specific number of years (in exchange for hte free program and placement assistance). So it seems, the student will 'have' to take a job that comes their way, even if the student may not prefer to join a particular company (for reasons that are not necessarily obvious - culture mismatch, bad work-life balance, other unknown problems on shared in closed circles). It is a great platform to start a career in tech for those who think they can take up a job that comes their way and adapt, I think these programs rob the person of making an unbiased and completely personal decision. Although, this may not be for everyone, but I'd prefer to pay for a course and keep my freedom to make a decision. P.S. Anyone with actual experience that counters my 'guess', I'd be happy to hear from you!

Just based on their fees, I am not sure if it's worth it. Their fee model is - 17% of income for 3 years, with a max cap of 20 lakhs. They don't have a prepaid option. They mention average salary of graduates as 31 lakhs, but this'll be likely skewed by few large remote salaries. One should ask for their median. The course fees are huge compared to some other similar bootcamps. Scaler academy no longer has an ISA option, costs 2.5L prepaid. Crio.do is 15% of income for 1.5 years with a max cap of 1.5 lakhs (also has a 90k prepaid option) Maybe someone with actual experience with this could explain why their higher fees are worth it

Pesto.tech requires prior experience and is not suitable for beginners. Here are a few others I know. • altcampus.iomasaischool.commountblue.io (offers a job directly with minimum prep. )

My college help me to get a job after 4 years of class room based study and even they didn’t charge ₹20L.
